    Job Title: Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) - Orthopedic Specialty

    Salary: $27.67 - $30.46 per hour
    Hours: 0800 - 2000/0830 - 2030/1000 - 2200 Rotating days

    Practices in accordance with the standards, scope and code of ethics as outlined by the British Columbia College of Nursing Professionals (BCCNP) as a Licensed Practical Nurse as well as within a client (patient, resident) and family centred care model and the vision and values of the organization. Working independently and collaboratively as a member of an interdisciplinary care team performs full scope of practical nursing functions as outlined by BCCNP and as permitted by the employer for clients with predictable outcomes within a designated area of specialty. This includes activities such as assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating and documenting client care, and providing support to clients and their families. Working collaboratively as a member of an interdisciplinary care team and under general supervision supports the Registered Nurse in caring for clients with unpredictable outcomes or where the acuity or complexity of care requires an advanced level of knowledge and skill beyond the scope of practice for Licensed Practical Nurses. Following decision support tools, casts fractures of a bone with orders and when a medical practitioner or nurse practitioner is available. Maintains and advances clinical competence pursuant to the standards of practice of BCCNP.


    Education & Experience

    • Graduation from a recognized program for Licensed Practical Nurses, plus successful completion of recognized, formal post-basic education in advanced orthopedics for LPNs.
    • Current practicing registration as a Licensed Practical Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nursing Professionals (BCCNP).

    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

    • Ability to work pursuant to the standards of practice under the BCCNP.
    • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
    • Ability to deal with others effectively.
    • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
    • Ability to organize work.
    • Ability to operate related equipment.

    Please Note this position requires two years of recent Acute care experience.

    The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes.
