    Hours: 0700-1500, 1500-1900, 1700-2100

    JOB SUMMARY:

    Practices in accordance with the standards, scope and code of ethics as outlined by the British Columbia College of Nursing Professionals (BCCNP) for a Licensed Practical Nurse as well as within a client and family centred care model and the vision, values and policies of the organization. Working independently and collaboratively as a member of an interdisciplinary care team performs full scope of practical nursing functions as outlined by BCCNP for clients with predictable outcomes within a designated area of specialty. This includes activities such as assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating and documenting client care, and providing support to clients and their families. Maintains and advances clinical competence pursuant to the standards of practice of BCCNP for clients within an Assisted Living environment.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Education & Experience

    • Graduation from a recognized program for Practical Nurses.
    • One year recent related experience in gerontological nursing or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
    • Recent, related expereince promoting client independence and/or supporting practice of life skills
    • Current practicing registration as a Licensed Practical Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nursing Professionals (BCCNP).
    • Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certificate and First Aid.

    Knowledge & Abilities

    • Demonstrated medication administration skills as outlined in the LPN Scope of Practice.
    • Comprehensive knowledge of other health care disciplines and their role in client and family care.
    • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and maintain priorities.
    • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
    • Ability to work independently and in collaboration/co-operation with others.
    • Ability to organize and prioritize.
    • Ability to establish and maintain rapport with clients.
    • Ability to observe and recognize changes in clients.
    • Ability to operate related equipment.
    • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
