    JOB SUMMARY:

    Within the context of a client and family centred care model, and in accordance with the British Columbia College of Nursing Professionals (BCCNP) standards of professional practice and Code of Ethics for registered nurses, and the established vision and values of the organization, performs patient assessment and data collection as a key member of the Critical Care/Intensive Care team. Utilizes both nursing knowledge and expertise, and strong technical computer skills, to assess patient care levels and upload findings into database. Supports the development, successful implementation, ongoing support and maintenance of the designated clinical application(s).

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Education & Experience

    • Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nursing Professionals (BCCNP).
    • Completion of a recognized critical care nursing program or two years' recent, related critical care experience.
    • Recent experience in the use of microcomputer hardware and software computer based patient care information systems, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

    • Broad knowledge of the standards of practice and guidelines for clinical practitioners established by the BCCNP.
    • Comprehensive knowledge of clinical utilization of clinical information systems.
    • Broad knowledge of clinical policies, procedures and standards of care.
    • Knowledge of other health care disciplines and their role in client care.
    • Demonstrated ability to effectively deal with others in a consultative/collaborative manner.
    • Demonstrated ability to communicate with, and deal effectively with co-workers, physicians, other health care staff and staff of outside agencies.
    • Computer literacy with word-processing, spreadsheet, presentation and database applications such as MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project and Access.
    • Demonstrated skill in CPR techniques.
    • Demonstrated ability to teach staff in an informal setting.
    • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
    • Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize workload in a self-directed manner.
    • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure in a constantly changing environment.
    • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
