    Work Site: Richmond Hospital - Richmond Mental Health Outpatient Services  & Richmond Short Term Assessment & Treatment  - Richmond, BC
    Status: Temporary Part Time (0.80 FTE)
    Start Date: As soon as possible until approximately September 2019
    Salary: $33.59 - $41.89 per hour

    ABOUT RICHMOND MENTAL HEALTH OUTPATIENT SERVICES & RICHMOND SHORT TERM ASSESSMENT 

     

    Services include general psychiatric assessment through the psychiatric consultation clinic, neuropsychological assessments and assessments for group and individual therapy. In the individual and group therapy program, a range of treatment modalities are offered, including cognitive-behavioural (CBT), interpersonal and psychodynamic therapies. Short term recovery focused intervention and treatment also provided through RSTAT.

     


    JOB SUMMARY:

    Within the context of a recovery oriented model of care that is inclusive of person & family centered, culturally competent/sensitive care and trauma informed practice and in accordance with the standards of professional practice and the established visions and values of the organization, works within an interdisciplinary team and as part of a broader integrated system to deliver services to clients experiencing mental health and/or concurrent conditions. Provides treatments which restore and/or improve the optimal functioning of adults with mental health and/or concurrent conditions through independent mental health and substance use screening; suicide risk assessment; comprehensive holistic assessments; care planning; short term care coordination; treatment and intervention through group therapy, individual therapy and referral. Uses a variety of theoretical models reflective of best practice and current evidence. Participates in case conferences/meetings to best meet the presenting needs of the client population and to provide integration and continuity along the care continuum. Establishes and maintains non-judgmental therapeutic relationships with clients and family, collaborates and consults with colleagues and other community resources. Participates in program sponsored interdisciplinary research. Participates in continuing education and/or corporate initiatives and engages in on-going team planning, development, evaluation, and quality improvement activities.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Education & Experience

    • Master’s degree in a Health Sciences Discipline from a recognized program.
    • Three (3) years’ recent related experience providing professional services to individuals who have severe acute mental health and substance use conditions, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
    • Valid BC Driver’s License as required. Local area travel may require the use of a personal vehicle.

    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

    • Comprehensive knowledge of psychotherapeutic and counselling skills.
    • Comprehensive knowledge of bio-psycho-social-spiritual issues that may occur in response to changing mental health and alcohol and/or other drug needs.
    • Comprehensive knowledge of mental health and substance abuse disorders and their interaction.
    • Broad knowledge of the DSM V diagnostic classification system and case formulation.
    • Broad knowledge of psychopharmacology.
    • Broad knowledge of legislation, government policies and procedures that relate to the client.
    • Broad knowledge of other health disciplines and their role in health care.
    • Demonstrated listening and information seeking skills to promote communication and leading to a collaborative approach to problem solving within a client & family centered, multi/interdisciplinary setting.
    • Demonstrated implementation of therapeutic elements of group process.
    • Demonstrated ability to work with and facilitate the development of an integrated system of mental health and addiction services, including working with mental health and addiction services and other related professionals.
    • Demonstrated ability to work within a recovery oriented model of care.
    • Demonstrated ability to gather relevant information to make a holistic, multi-dimensional mental health and substance misuse assessment.
    • Demonstrated ability to complete a mental health assessment, case formulation and, collaboratively with the client and family, create a treatment/wellness plan that identifies goals and expected outcomes for recovery from the presenting issues.
    • Demonstrated ability to apply a variety of theoretical models to practice in assessment and intervention.
    • Demonstrated ability to assess and respond to rapidly changing and pressure situations.
    • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with clients, family, colleagues, referral sources, medical personnel, and community agency personnel.
    • Demonstrated ability to establish workload priorities.
    • Demonstrated ability to adjust to new or unexpected events.
    • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively to meet organizational goals within the vision and mission of the organization.
    • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
    • Skilled in the use of equipment, and in the techniques established for treatment.
    • Competent computer literacy to operate a computerized client care information system and word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, Internet and e-mail software.

    The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes. Successful applicants may be required to complete a Criminal Records Review Check.
