Come work as a Family Physician – Addiction Medicine with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH)!

 

The Clinic is currently seeking a Part Time Physician (0.5 FTE) to work at this Addictions outpatient clinic treating individuals with complex addictions including opiate addiction providing Opioid agonist treatment. The physician would be responsible for providing/monitoring various primary care needs of this population attached to this clinic. The physician will work as a part of a collaborative interdisciplinary team. These roles will be under a Primary Network Contract (PCN).

As a Family Physician – Addiction Medicine with Vancouver Coastal Health, you will:

  • Be privileged in the Department of Family Practice with Associate privileges in the Department of Psychiatry.
  • Report to the Head and Medical Director, Department of Psychiatry, VCH-Richmond Mental Health and Substance Use.
  • Provide an innovative and comprehensive array of assessment and treatment to support the recovery of individuals living with complex addiction issues.
  • Manage chronic disease (COPD/CAD/CHF/DM2/etc.)
  • Manage basic mental health issues (anxiety/depression/OCD/etc.) and manage referrals as needed to mental health team/ACT/etc.
  • Monitor bloodwork for those on anticoagulants/seizure meds/etc.
  • Provide basic trans care
  • Provide HIV PrEP/STI management/STI screening (could do bloodwork for HIV/Syphilis/HCV/HAV/HBV on site and ability to do POC HIV tests)
  • Perform age related screening and monitoring (paps/Mammograms/CRCA screening/DM2 screening/lipids/etc.)
  • Ensure patients are up to date with immunizations (Tetanus/MMR/HAV/HBV/Pneumovax/Gardasil as needed/etc.)
  • Work with allied health to complete insurance forms/disability forms/EI forms/PWD forms/etc.
  • Assess for urgent issues: viral illness/URI/URTI/UTI/etc.

Qualifications

Education, Licensing, & Experience:

  • Current College of Physicians of BC (CPSBC) License - Full
  • Canadian College of Family Practitioners (CCFP)
  • Canadian College of Family Practitioners (CCFP) Eligible
  • Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA)
  • Must have a Medical Degree and be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia.

 

Knowledge & Abilities:

  • Ability to work as a member of an interdisciplinary health team, a commitment to participate in new methods in health improvement and care delivery.
