Come work as a Medical Director, Long Term Care – Elder Care Lead with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH)!

 

The Medical Director, Long term Care - Elder Care Lead, (the “Medical Director”) in partnership with designated senior operational leaders and the associate Medical Director, Long term Care - Elder Care Lead is responsible for the development and delivery of programs/services for the long term care population provided within the Richmond Community of Care (“CoC”).

 

The Medical Director is responsible for partnering with the whole continuum of care and working across portfolios with other medical leadership (including but not limited to Geriatric mental health) to ensure the coordination of services for the long term care population.

 

The Services will be provided at various sites within the Richmond CoC. It is expected that, on average, the time required to perform the Services will be approximately six and a half (6.5) hours per week.

 

 

As a Medical Director, Long Term Care – Elder Care Lead with Vancouver Coastal Health, you will:

  • Work closely with Regional Leadership within Long Term Care on strategy, manpower and quality.
  • Work together with the Division of Family Practice and LTC Initiative Lead.
  • Provide medical leadership and strategic direction to ensure high quality and effective delivery of medical services, which support the integrated care needs of the long-term care population.
  • Oversee operations related to the diagnosis, care and treatment of long term as well as the flow across the whole continuum of care.
  • In partnership with the Long Term Care Operational Leadership Team and other stakeholders including the Medical Advisory Committee and the Division of Family Practice, contribute to the development and implementation of quality improvement strategies for long-term care within the CoC.
  • Actively participate in Long Term Care Initiatives (RCI) committees.
  • Responsible for human resource management of the medical staff within the programs/service area, including maintenance of medical and ethical standards of practice and medical workforce planning.
  • Lead or participate in local/regional/provincial working groups/committees to plan new initiatives and provide guidance in the identification of emerging issues and opportunities and influence the development of long-term directions, priorities and strategic options to address issues within the portfolio.
  • Work with the medical leaders in the contracted sites to support them in their role including distribution and monitoring the utilization of resources available.
  • Include contracted site medical leaders in any educational opportunities.
  • Provide mentorship and overall leadership to the Associate Medical Director.

 

Qualifications

Education, Licensing, & Experience:

  • Current College of Physicians of BC (CPSBC) License - Full
  • Canadian College of Family Practitioners (CCFP)
  • Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA)
