Come work as a Primary Care - Addiction Physician with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH)!

 

Join a team of dedicated, passionate physicians providing substance use care on the Downtown Eastside (DTES) at the DTES Connections Clinic! The DTES Connections Clinic was opened in response to the Opioid OD Crisis to provide low-barrier substance use care 7 days per week. Located on the DTES, Connections serves as an important entrypoint for marginalized patients to access substance use care.


Providers must have completed the Provincial Opioid Addiction Treatment Support Program (POATSP) course and preceptorship and be able to prescribe opioid agonist therapy (OAT).

 

As a Primary Care - Addiction Physician with Vancouver Coastal Health, you will:

  • Be responsible for providing direct clinical services to patients who present to and identify with Downtown Eastside Connections for their substance use care.
  • Help foster a collaborative inter-professional practice environment that enhances client-centered services within the site.
  • Work within a self-directed team of physicians and other inter-professional colleagues to achieve excellence in client-centered care, while also supporting the team’s goals of creating a warm and welcoming space which is culturally competent, trauma informed, and grounded in harm reduction.

Qualifications

Education, Licensing, & Experience:

  • Canadian College of Family Practitioners (CCFP) – Mandatory
  • Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA) – Mandatory
  • Physicians must have completed the BCCSU Provincial Opioid Addiction Treatment Support Program (POATSP) training.

 

Knowledge & Abilities:

  • Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with the inter-disciplinary team
