New collaborations are taking place across the Lower Mainland Health Authorities in order to share resources, and optimize care and service.
Lower Mainland Pathology and Laboratory Medicine serves Provincial Health Services (PHSA), Fraser Health (FH), Providence Health Care (PHC) and Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) including R.W. Large Memorial Hospital & Bella Coola General Hospital now part of Vancouver Coastal Health.
This service is focused on providing integrated laboratory services that support quality of care and patient safety within a sustainable framework that makes the best use of the resources available. Support for the academic research and training programs within the Lower Mainland's teaching hospitals are a fundamental part of this framework.
Recognized as four of BC's largest healthcare organizations, PHSA, FH, PHC and VCH collectively employ more than 60,000. The area that they serve stretches from Powell River and Richmond in the west to as far east as Hope and includes the Central Coastal areas of Bella Bella and Bella Coola, BC.

As per Ministry of Health policy, all health care workers working in publicly-funded health care facilities are required to report their past receipt of certain vaccines or history of certain infections. Collecting these records will allow for offering of any missing vaccines, and for appropriate actions to be taken in the event of any future exposure to a communicable disease or during outbreaks. For all new hires and appointments to Vancouver Coastal Health, you will be asked to provide this information as part of the onboarding process.
