    JOB SUMMARY:

    Reporting to the Regional Director Quality Data Analytics and, in collaboration with the Quality Patient Safety and Infection Control (QPS-IPAC) team, the Regional Epidemiologist works to reduce the incidence of preventable adverse events including healthcare associated infections across all sectors of care within Vancouver Coastal Health. This goal is achieved through contributing to the ongoing development, use and evaluation of a comprehensive and integrated regional performance measurement and reporting system to support timely evidence-informed decision-making at all levels of the organization including at the point-of-care. Other responsibilities include investigation of outbreaks/clusters, evaluation of interventions and quality improvement initiatives, translation of data into institutional best practice and policy, and the conduct of applied epidemiological research.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Qualifications

    • Masters’ Degree or PhD in Epidemiology or related discipline plus two (2) years’ recent, related experience in infection control surveillance including experience with methodological skills in data analysis, study design and statistical data analysis.
    • Publication in peer-reviewed journals.
    • Qualitative data analysis experience will be considered an asset.

    • Maintains current knowledge of new developments, trends and research in infection control surveillance and recommends best practices accordingly.
    • Uses a variety of software applications at an advanced level to prepare reports and other documents to conduct analysis.
    • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
