Training program: Norquest College - Post-diploma advanced certificate program in Orthopaedics for LPNs. The program includes:
Training Dates: Must register for Post-diploma advanced certificate program in Orthopaedics for LPNs - Component #1 & #2: Self-study by June 10 2018; Must commence online courses on July 1 2018.
Exact start dates of program and components to be discussed at time of hire.
Eligibility for the post-basic training education is restricted to applicants with:
• Current full practicing registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of BC (CLPNBC)
• Minimum 3600 hours (approximately two years) current acute care experience as an LPN
Applicants must successfully complete the post-basic training education prior to working in the department.
The post-basic training education program requires full-time attendance. Funding will consist of 100% of wages, tuition and books during the training program.
Practices in accordance with the standards, scope and code of ethics as outlined by the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of BC (CLPNBC) as well as within a client (patient, resident) and family centered care model and the vision and values of the organization. Working independently and collaboratively as a member of an interdisciplinary care team performs full scope of practical nursing functions as outlined by CLPNBC and as permitted by the employer for clients with predictable outcomes within a designated area of specialty. This includes activities such as assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating and documenting client care, and providing support to clients and their families. Working collaboratively as a member of an interdisciplinary care team and under general supervision supports the Registered Nurse in caring for clients with unpredictable outcomes or where the acuity or complexity of care requires an advanced level of knowledge and skill beyond the scope of practice for Licensed Practical Nurses. Following decision support tools, casts fractures of a bone with orders and when a medical practitioner or nurse practitioner is available. Maintains and advances clinical competence pursuant to the standards of practice of CLPNBC.
