Job Title: Licensed Practical Nurse - Orthopedic Specialty
Work Site: Whistler Health Centre - Whistler, BC

Additional site: Lion's Gate Hospital, North Vancouver, BC

Status: Regular Full Time
Start Date: As soon as possible
Salary: $27.20 - $29.94 per hour
Hours: 0800-2000, 0900-2100 and 1000-2200

JOB SUMMARY:

Practices in accordance with the standards, scope and code of ethics as outlined by the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of BC (CLPNBC) as well as within a client (patient, resident) and family centered care model and the vision and values of the organization. Working independently and collaboratively as a member of an interdisciplinary care team performs full scope of practical nursing functions as outlined by CLPNBC and as permitted by the employer for clients with predictable outcomes within a designated area of specialty.

 

This includes activities such as assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating and documenting client care, and providing support to clients and their families. Working collaboratively as a member of an interdisciplinary care team and under general supervision supports the Registered Nurse in caring for clients with unpredictable outcomes or where the acuity or complexity of care requires an advanced level of knowledge and skill beyond the scope of practice for Licensed Practical Nurses. Following decision support tools, casts fractures of a bone with orders and when a medical practitioner or nurse practitioner is available. Maintains and advances clinical competence pursuant to the standards of practice of CLPNBC.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education & Experience

  • Graduation from a recognized program for Licensed Practical Nurses.
  • Successful completion of recognized, formal post-basic education in advanced orthopedics for LPNs.
  • Current full practicing licensure with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of BC (CLPNBC). 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to work pursuant to the standards of practice under the CLPNBC
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to deal with others effectively.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Ability to organize work.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.
