JOB SUMMARY:
Within the context of a client and family centred care model, and in accordance with the College Registered Nurses’ of British Columbia (CRNBC) standards of professional practice, Code of Ethics and the established mission, vision, values, objectives and policies of Vancouver Coastal Health, provides nursing care to high risk critically ill clients with unpredictable outcomes attached to life-support equipment, and/or clients in post-anaesthetic recovery, both by working independently and as a member of a interdisciplinary team. Enhances quality of life from the perspective of the client/family. Consults, confers, and collaborates with other health care givers. Demonstrates expertise and leadership in nursing practice. Maintains and advances clinical competence. Participates on designated hospital committees/teams and approved research projects as assigned.

POSSIBLE TRAINING OPPORTUNITY:
Should there be insufficient qualified candidates available for the this position, VCH may fund post-basic training education.

Eligibility for the post-basic training education is restricted to applicants with a minimum of 2 years’ recent acute medical/surgical experience. Preference to applicants with high acuity training and/or experience. Applicants must successfully complete the post-basic training education prior to working in the Department.
The post-basic training education program requires full time attendance. Funding will consist of 100% of wages, tuition and books during the training program.
Online Theory prerequisites (if required) Sept. 10 - Mar. 10, 2019. *
Education Days: J6 required non-consecutive education days throught (dates to be determined).
Full-time training at BCIT and practicum locations: Apr. 1 - June 20, 2019.*
*Course dates will be modified based on previous courses completed. VCH only funds for required courses.
The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes.
