JOB SUMMARY:

Within the context of a patient/client/resident and family centred care model and in accordance with established vision and values of the organization, works under the operational supervision of the Manager and the work direction of a designated therapist, and in cooperation with interdisciplinary team members, to carry out established rehabilitative activities. Responsibilities include demonstrating and teaching activities, adapting devices to enable to maximize potential for independence, providing functional direction to patient/client/resident family organizing activities, accompanying on outings and coordinating portering, and assisting with practicing daily living skills. Reports in writing or using computer relevant observations of patient/client/resident progress and behaviours, provides direction to volunteers, organizes equipment and supplies for activities, ensures a safe work environment, clean equipment and maintains established inventory of supplies.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education & Experience

• Completion of a Rehabilitation Assistant Program 

Knowledge & Abilities

• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. 
• Ability to deal with others effectively. 
• Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position. 
• Ability to organize work. 
• Ability to operate related equipment.
