As one of British Columbia's six regional health authorities, we, Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) are a world class innovator in medical care, research and teaching, delivering service to more than one million BC residents living in Vancouver, Vancouver's North Shore, Richmond, the Sea-to-Sky Highway, Sunshine Coast, Bella Bella, Bella Coola, and the Central Coast. We are dedicated to delivering the highest quality services in areas including primary care, community-based residential and home health care, mental health, substance use, public health and research. We are an organization fully committed to supporting healthy lives in healthy communities with the robust resources of 13 hospitals, a number of community health centres, 2,500 physicians, more than 13,500 full time staff, and over $3 billion in funding.

But that's only part of the story. VCH is about something bigger; this is a place where we embrace thinking boldly, taking smart risks, and "going first" – on everything from new surgical techniques to funding models – when we believe it will lead to the best possible outcomes for patients and their families. We are proud to hold best-in-class awards in everything from research, surgical care and infection control, to harm reduction, community care, communications and community engagement. At our core, we are a people-focused organization where entrepreneurial spirit runs deep, and opportunity exists for all those who see themselves in the transformation of health care as we know it.

We now have the opportunity for a Director, Professional Practice to provide strategic leadership of professional practice at VCH.  You will provide leadership to a team and report directly to the Vice President, Professional Practice and Chief Clinical Information Officer. Your responsibilities include working in partnership with key stakeholders across the health authority.  You will also lead the development of professional standards of practice, scope, and be a champion on practice advice. The ability to promote consistent care to our patients/clients/residents/families will be key.

The ideal candidate brings progressively senior leadership experience with a focus on delivery of high quality professional practice program(s) and complex projects in a healthcare setting.  Alternatively, he/she is an operational manager or director of an acute program within a healthcare organization.
