Job Title: Rehabilitation Assistant (OT/PT)
Work Site: Vancouver Three Bridges Community Health Centre
Status: Regular Part Time - Baseline (0.8 FTE)
Start Date: As soon as possible
Salary: $21.53 - $23.35 per hour
Hours: 0830-1630, Monday - Thursday

JOB SUMMARY:

Within the context of a client and family centred care model, this position functions under the operational supervision of the Manager or Team Leader and the work direction of a licensed designated occupational therapist or physiotherapist to work as a member of the health care team.

 

Rehabilitation Assistant provides assigned physical / occupational therapy therapeutic interventions; assists in modification of OT/ PT care plans and facilitates transition to community programs in order to enable clients to maximize potential for independence. Provides functional direction to family, reports relevant observations of client's condition in writing or by utilizing basic computer literacy, manages equipment safety and inventory.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education & Experience

  • Completion of an accredited Diploma level Rehabilitation Assistant Program with Occupational and Physical therapy components
  • One (1) year's recent, related experience working with target population.
  • Valid BC Drivers License. Local area travel requires the use of a personal vehicle for which mileage will be reimbursed.

  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. 
  • Computer literacy skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others. 
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position. 
  • Ability to organize and priorize work. 
  • Ability to observe and recognize changes in clients
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems.
  • Ability to establish and maintain rapport with clients
  • Ability to motivate clients and to encourage progression through therapeutic goals
  • Demonstrated ability to provide self-care instruction and education


These positions work under the supervision of OT Clinical Coordinator for Contracted Vancouver Adult Day Centres, providing support to 10 centres for falls prevention programs and other outcome measures.

The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes. Successful applicants may be required to complete a Criminal Records Review Check.
