Job Title: Licensed Practical Nurse - Relief
Work Site: Cedar Gardens (Assisted Living) - North Vancouver, BC
Status: Casual
Start Date: As soon as possible
Salary: $26.81 - $29.11 per hour
Hours: 0730-1530

JOB SUMMARY:

Practices in accordance with the standards, scope and code of ethics as outlined by the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of BC (CLPNBC) as well as within a client and family centered care model and the vision, values and policies of the organization. Working independently and collaboratively as a member of an interdisciplinary care team performs full scope of practical nursing functions as outlined by CLPNBC for clients with predictable outcomes within a designated area of specialty. This includes activities such as assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating and documenting client care, and providing support to clients and their families. Maintains and advances clinical competence pursuant to the standards of practice of CLPNBC for clients within an Assisted Living environment.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education & Experience

  • Graduation from a recognized program for Practical Nurses and one year of recent related experience in gerontological nursing.
  • Current full practicing licensure with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of BC (CLPNBC).
  • Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certificate and First Aid.


Knowledge & Abilities

  • Demonstrated medication administration skills as outlined in the LPN Scope of Practice.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of other health care disciplines and their role in client and family care.
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and maintain priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work independently and in collaboration/co-operation with others.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize.
  • Ability to establish and maintain rapport with clients.
  • Ability to observe and recognize changes in clients.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
