Job Title: Community Dietitian 2
Work Site: Pacific Spirit Community Health - Healthy Living Program - Vancouver, BC
Status: Regular Full Time 
Start Date: As soon as possible
Salary: $32.39 - $40.40 per hour
Hours: 0900 - 1700 Monday to Friday

Working within the context of a client and family centred care model, and the visions/values of Vancouver Coastal Health, Vancouver Community Health Services, and taking a city wide population health approach, the Community Nutritionist provides leadership to the interdisciplinary team in planning, organizing, coordinating and evaluating programs for the community that are directed towards population health promotion and secondary prevention of chronic diseases (screening and early intervention). Provides consistent, reliable, evidence based nutrition assessment and consultation to a select population group experiencing chronic diseases including pre-diabetes. Creates supportive environments that promote healthy eating and active living behaviours.


Education & Experience

  • Masters Degree in Dietetics or Nutrition from an accredited university.
  • Completion of a Dietetic Internship accredited by the Dietitians of Canada.
  • Two years’ recent related experience in community nutrition projects and/or activities and project management or interdisciplinary leadership experience.
  • Registered member of the College of Dieticians of British Columbia.
  • Local area travel requires use of personal vehicle. Valid BC Driver’s License.
  • Fluency in a second language is an asset.


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Comprehensive knowledge of nutrition issues relevant to community health.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of nutrition education principles, methods and delivery techniques for clients/parents of various cultural, educational and financial backgrounds.
  • Considerable knowledge of community resources and available services.
  • Considerable knowledge of group facilitation skills and conflict resolution techniques and demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of health promotion and population health stategies and frameworks/ models.
  • Considerable knowledge of diabetes prevention and management
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare and maintain a variety of charts, records and reports.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing and deal effectively with clients and their families, coworkers, members of the community, physicians, other health care staff and staff of external agencies.
  • .Demonstrated ability to independently plan, organize and prioritize workload and adapt to a changing caseload in a complex environment.
  • Computer literacy specifically with Windows applications.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
