Job Title:Addiction Nurse RPN RN (In-Patient Withdrawal Management Beds)
Work Site: Richmond Hospital
Status: Casual (0.01 FTE)
Start Date: As Soon As Possible 
Salary: $32.94 - $43.24 per hour
Hours: 0900-1700 with rotating days off

JOB SUMMARY:

Within the context of a client and family centered Recovery model and in accordance with the College of Registered Nurses of British Columbia (CRNBC) or the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of British Columbia (CRPNBC) standards of professional practice, Code of Ethics, and the established vision and values of the organization, the Addiction Nurse provides direct nursing care and supportive counseling to clients who are in the process of detoxification, stabilization and/or transitioning into other residential addiction services, working effectively with challenging clients to maintain a safe environment for clients and staff. Collaborates with interdisciplinary team members, educational resources and other health professionals and care providers from multi-jurisdictional sectors such as housing, justice and/or health, to achieve excellence in client-centered care and education.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education & Experience

  • Current practicing registration with the College of Registered Nurses of British Columbia (CRNBC) or the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of British Columbia (CRPNBC).
  • Three (3) year’s recent related experience providing treatment services to individuals with mental health and/or addiction issues.
  • Valid Driver's License. Local area travel may require the use of a personal vehicle. 


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge of the principles of recovery and trauma informed practice 
  • Broad knowledge of nursing theory and practice within a client/family-centered model of care.
  • Broad knowledge of CRNBC/CRPNBC Standards for Nursing Practice.
  • Broad knowledge of substance use and a positive attitude toward substance dependent clients and their rehabilitation.
  • Broad knowledge of community residential services available for clients experiencing Substance use problems.
  • Broad knowledge of behaviour management and ability to utilize non-violent crisis intervention strategies in a trauma informed manner.
  • Broad knowledge of facilitation, mediation, and conflict resolution techniques and demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Demonstrated skill in CPR Techniques.
  • Demonstrated case management, teaching/training, clinical support and consultation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in an interdisciplinary team environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize, work independently, and use a cooperative approach to program delivery.
  • Demonstrated ability to carry out the physical demands of the job.
