The Centre for Lung Health (CLH) at the Vancouver Coastal Health Research Institute (VCHRI) is a research-driven, multidisciplinary centre that brings together internationally recognized leaders in respiratory research, clinical care and education including the Legacy for Airway Health (LAH) and other affiliated programs. The CLH integrates expertise across disciplines to accelerate discovery, improve clinical practice and enhance respiratory health through research, education, innovation and community partnerships. Guided by the principle that Research is Care and Care is Research, CLH's vision is to be the world leader in research and its application to prevention of and care for lung disease at the individual, community and population levels. By embedding research within clinical care through an integrated approach, the CLH creates an environment in which new knowledge continuously improves practice while clinical and public health experience informs future discovery, ultimately improving outcomes.

The CLH builds on internationally recognized programs at Vancouver General Hospital (VGH) and affiliated hospitals, the University of British Columbia (UBC) and Simon Fraser University (SFU), Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH), the VGH & UBC Hospital Foundation and the VGH and UBC Divisions of Respiratory Medicine who are key partners that help advance the CLH’s mission and strengthen its research, clinical and community initiatives.

 

As a Coordinator, Communications and Community Engagement Centre for Lung Health with Vancouver Coastal Health you will:

  • Be responsible for strengthening the collaboration and engagement across the CLH’s programs and partner organizations by fostering an an environment of trust, transparency and collaboration within CLH and across British Columbia, Canada, and internationally with the central focus of the role is to ensure that lived experience informs research priorities, study design, implementation and dissemination.
  • Working closely with staff of CLH and its component units, develop networks, communities of practice, engagement initiatives and communication strategies that enhance the CLH’s visibility, promotes interdisciplinary collaboration and innovation and maximizes the impact of CLH's work on patient care and health system improvement.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a health science-related discipline, supplemented with three (3) to five (5) years’ recent related experience working in a health care system, professional association, health authority and/or government on research and/or projects related to patient-oriented research, community engagement, evidence-informed practice and/or policy change, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Knowledge & Abilities

 

  • Experience with implementation science, knowledge translation theory and practice including critical appraisal, knowledge and skills related to the process of Evidence-Informed Decision Making.
  • Ability to develop, maintain and foster relationships with researchers, decision makers and patient groups.
  • Demonstrated experience in organizing stakeholder consultations.
  • Demonstrated excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, including social media management.
  • Ability to prepare reports and presentations for diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team setting.
  • Demonstrated excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated work ethic, high degree of initiative and self-motivation.
  • Ability to thrive in dynamic, high-pressure environments.

As per Ministry of Health policy, all health care workers working in publicly-funded health care facilities are required to report their past receipt of certain vaccines or history of certain infections. Collecting these records will allow for offering of any missing vaccines, and for appropriate actions to be taken in the event of any future exposure to a communicable disease or during outbreaks.
