Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) is seeking a full-time academic Musculoskeletal Radiologist to join Vancouver Imaging, a dynamic group of 45 academic Radiologists providing general and subspecialty diagnostic along with interventional radiologic services to Vancouver General Hospital (VGH) and the University of British Columbia Hospital, in affiliation with the University of British Columbia (UBC).  As an accredited Level 1 trauma centre, VGH has a large orthopedic surgery department with arthroscopie surgery, reconstructive orthopedics, orthopedic trauma and provides orthopedic oncology surgical services for British Columbia with referrals from other parts of Canada.

 

We are seeking an academically oriented Musculoskeletal Radiologist with a strong interest and experience in teaching and research.  A focus on high-quality clinical work and service is paramount. The Section operates a high-volume clinical practice, involving plain films, CT, Ultrasound and MRI. 

 

As an Academic Diagnostic and Interventional Musculoskeletal Radiologist with Vancouver Coastal Health, you will:

 

Work with 2 full-time Musculoskeletal Radiologists and 5 part-time Musculoskeletal Radiologists. The Musculoskeletal Radiology Section works closely with the Divisions of Rheumatology, Sports Medicine, as well as the Palliative Care/Pain Control Division in association with the British Columbia Cancer Agency. 

 

Play a key role in training diagnostic radiology residents, and medical students who regularly rotate through the section. The Section runs a post-graduate fellowship program in musculoskeletal imaging, with 8 Fellows annually.

 

Participate in and lead multidisciplinary meetings and collaboration. The Section is integral to Orthopedic Oncology, Sports Medicine/Arthroscopy, Palliative Care/Pain Control and Rheumatology multidisciplinary meetings and collaboration.

Qualifications

Education, Licensing, & Experience:

  • Current College of Physicians of BC (CPSBC) – Full
  • Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA) - Mandatory
  • Emergency Medicine – Desired
  • All applicants must be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and the Licentiate of the Medical Council of Canada (LMCC).
  • The candidate must have knowledge and mastery of MSK sports medicine Imaging and advanced MRI MSK techniques such as AI accelerated sequences, kinematic, high field strength metal suppression imaging, spectroscopy, DWI/DTI, isotropic sequences, T2 cartilage mapping and 3T imaging.

Knowledge & Abilities:

  • Candidates must have experience in Diagnostic MSK US and MSK US procedural work such as perineural, peritendinous and intra-articular injections along with fenestrations and barbotage procedures.
  • It would be important for the candidate to have experience with Dual Energy CT and Photon Counting CT.
  • Candidate must have experience in performing complex interventional musculoskeletal procedures including imaging-guided bone and soft tissue biopsy, cementoplasty in the spine and pelvis, thermal ablation of primary and secondary bone and soft tissue tumours.
  • Ability to interpret full body imaging is a requirement, in order to support remote Radiology service across the province of BC.
