Vancouver Coastal Health is looking for a Clinical Secretary to join the Health Services for Community Living team at G.F. Strong Rehabilitation Centre in Vancouver, BC. Apply today to join our team!

As a Clinical Secretary with Vancouver Coastal Health, you will:

  • Be responsible for performing clerical support duties for clinical managers/supervisors or specific department/s and/or area/s.
  • Perform a composite of the following duties: answer phone, greet visitors, respond to general enquiries, open and distribute mail, etc.
  • Prepare/type technical and non-technical material from handwritten notes, verbal instruction or dictation and compile statistical reports utilizing word processing, presentation, spreadsheet and database software.
  • Schedule/book patient appointments in accordance with established priority level and various medical and health professional staff schedules.
  • Perform timekeeping functions, maintain files, personnel records, processes forms, invoices and expenses.
  • Maintain manager’s calendar and arrange meetings.
  • Maintain a variety of records, files and stationery supplies, photocopies, fax and distribute material, and perform other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education & Experience

  • Grade 12, medical terminology plus two (2) years recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Knowledge & Abilities

  • Ability to keyboard at 45 w.p.m.
  • Ability to communicate effective both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to deal with others effectively.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Ability to organize work.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.

The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes. Successful applicants may be required to complete a Criminal Records Review Check.

As per the current Public Health Orders (Long Term Care/Seniors Assisted Living Provincial Health Officer Order and the Health Sector Order), as of October 26, 2021, all employees working for Vancouver Coastal Health must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19. Proof of vaccination status will be required.
