In accordance with the standards of practice and the established vision and values of Vancouver Coastal Health, the pediatrician who accepts this position will provide comprehensive medical assessments with recommendations as well as follow up appt while a client is active with the program. They will receive internal referrals from the Vancouver Coastal Health Eating Disorders program for individuals 12-19 years old and be allocated as a consult physician. They will determine shared care follow up with community primary care providers and documents assessment and follow up progress notes. The pediatrician will liaise directly with the community primary care provider as needed to ensure supportive share care and attend weekly triage meetings to discuss client treatment planning. They will attend client family meetings as needed and support referrals to tertiary programs.
The service provides outpatient support and access to treatments for youth and adults with anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, and related eating disorders within the context of a client and family-centered recovery model. The successful candidate will work in collaboration with other physicians, psychologists, nurses, registered clinical counselors, social workers, occupational therapists, patients and their families to provide comprehensive clinical care within our treatment team. The pediatrician will participate in the training and education of other allied health professionals. Active participation in academic activities and clinical care is expected. The pediatrician should have a good knowledge of Community resources.
