Richmond Palliative Care Services in Richmond is recruiting a Part-Time and Full-Time Physician to join a well established and Integrated Palliative Care Consultant Program with the full support of a multidisciplinary group affiliated with Richmond Hospital. There is a possibility of augmentation of the part time FTE for this role in the future depending on the needs of the division and service.
The program includes - Outpatient Pain and Symptom Management Clinic, Hospice, Home Visits, Palliative Care Consults in Hospital, Hospital SPCU.
The position will provide consultation and support to patients across a spectrum of locales, including acute care, community clinics and homes, Long Term Care sites and Hospice.
Your work in the acute setting will include:
Work in an integrated and collaborative team with our medical oncological colleagues, internists, subspecialists, surgeons and interventional radiologists to provide robust, evidence-based care. We provide admitting (MRP) and consultative services. We also provide education and advocacy for Palliative Care to our hospital-based colleagues as well as those in the community.
Our CHAC clinic is a stand alone clinic that provides ambulatory services for pain and symptom management working in conjunction with a multidisciplinary team within the community.
Richmond Hospice is a 10 private residential hospice facility providing compassionate, interdisciplinary and holistic care for those end of life.
The position will work with 3 other full time Palliative Care Consultants and provide comprehensive support to local multidisciplinary teams including family physicians.
This position will also provide academic leadership and support for a myriad of undergraduate and postgraduate medical trainees.

To meet the growing demand for healthcare services, Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) is ensuring we plan for the future. Richmond Hospital is undergoing plans for a campus wide expansion and renewal. As announced on July 2020 by the Premier and Minster of Health, the aims is to build a new acute care tower. Incorporating modernized healthcare design principles, the new facility provide increased inpatient care beds, perioperative services, medical imaging and emergency services to support quality patient care and staff wellness and safety. Detailed planning is currently underway with a project completion target of 2030.
