Come work as an Inpatient Withdrawal Management Physician with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH)!

 

Come join the most experienced withdrawal management team in Vancouver! You will work in a fun, engaged interdisciplinary team of social workers, 24/7 nursing and detox workers. In this role you will manage the full spectrum of substance use disorders in an inpatient withdrawal management environment, including complex withdrawal presentations.

 

Logistics:

-You will work between two sites

-2 physicians work together Mon-Fri with 1 physician on over the weekends

-We are hiring both “staff” and “locum” positions. “Staff” are required to work a minimum 12 weeks per year, weekends in a 2:1 ratio, holidays distributed among the staff group and are paid at a higher rate. “Locums” are only required to pick up work once every 12 months to remain active in the locum pool.

Qualifications

Education, Licensing, & Experience:

  • Current College of Physicians of BC (CPSBC) - Full
  • Canadian College of Family Practitioners (CCFP) - Mandatory
  • Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA) - Mandatory

Knowledge & Abilities:

  • Candidates must have one of the following:
  • Certification through the Canadian Society of Addiction Medicine;
  • Certification through the American Society of Addiction Medicine;
  • Certification through the International Society of Addiction Medicine;
  • Certification through the American Board of Addiction Medicine;
  • Completion of the BC Centre on Substance Use Addictions Medicine Fellowship program;
  • Certificate of Added Competency in Addiction Medicine from the College of Family Physicians of Canada; or
  • Area of Focused Competence (Diploma) program in Addiction Medicine accredited by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.

Preference is given to candidates who have completed formal addiction medicine training.

-If previously worked for VCH: medical director during tenure
