Job Summary

Come work as an Senior Business Advisor, Data and Analytics with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH)!

 

As part of migrating our data warehouse to the cloud, VCH Data & Analytics are modernizing our reporting architecture and product suite with tools like Databricks, ThoughtSpot, and Tableau. We’re looking for a business advisor with excellent project management skills, data literacy, and experience working with technical teams. You’ll help design and guide implementation of a rebuilt set of reporting products, incorporating data from multiple source systems.

 

As a Senior Business Advisor, Data and Analytics with VCH, you will:

 

  • Identify, develop, implement, and maintain innovative solutions to meet the information needs of the organization.
  • Synthesize data and conduct analysis to provide recommendations that directly impact decisions relating to financial, human resources, and patient care services.
  • Utilize advanced analytical techniques, modeling, and data management skills, other responsibilities include portfolio, project, and product management, evaluation & methodology design, key performance indicator (KPI) development, stakeholder management, and strategy development.
  • Support operational and clinical partners across designated areas across VCH.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

 

  • Master’s Degree in Health Administration, Health Planning, Business Administration or Behavioural Sciences with course work in health care planning or health policy development and analysis or five to seven (5 to 7) years’ of recent, related experience in senior level planning or program development in healthcare or social services, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

 

  • Advanced knowledge of analytical tools and databases (e.g. Excel, SQL, Python, R, Tableau).
  • General knowledge of current health care systems, issues and trends.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, critical thinking and effective decision-making.
  • Ability to analyze and problem-solve complex issues towards effective solutions.
  • Ability to synthesize large amounts of data and summarize/share findings using a data storytelling approach
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with all levels of the organization, including advanced report presentation and writing skills.
  • Effective project management skills to define deliverables and develop project plans.
  • Effective facilitation and negotiation skills.
  • Willingness to mentor other staff and share learnings.
  • Ability to respond to changing priorities and unforeseen circumstances.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize and balance work.
  • Ability to operate related equipment, including computer software applications.
  • Develops and maintains strong relationships with key internal and external partners to promote and enhance services provided with sensitivity to diversity and indigenous lens.
  • Practices the recognition, inclusion and support of all types and aspects of diversity at all stages of engagement, with an understanding of the issues faced by people from equity-deserving groups.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
