Join VCH’s innovative Transformation Team of experienced advisors, leaders, and directors from clinical and corporate backgrounds that champion and lead health-care system-wide transformation initiatives that cross VCH. The Transformation team acts as a central hub for internal teams and external partners, supporting strategy, innovation, planetary health, and culture initiatives, as well as leading urgent or special projects requested by the CEO, Senior Executive Team, Board, or Ministry of Health.

 

This Strategic Initiatives Advisor role requires someone who demonstrates professionalism and accountability, communicates proactively, takes initiative, is collaborative and adapts effectively to evolving priorities. The Strategic Initiatives Advisor will plan, implement, and monitor initiatives using strong project management skills, clear communication, and sound judgment, while developing executive-ready materials, facilitating engagement and learning activities, supporting change initiatives, and tracking deliverables to ensure follow-through.

As a Strategic Initiatives Advisor, Transformation Team with Vancouver Coastal Health you will:

  • Act as an internal consulting resource for VCH in supporting initiatives to move the organization toward its vision.
  • Provide skills and knowledge in project planning, project management, integrating analysis, forecasting projections, developing and promoting business cases, and reporting to implement key projects across VCH.
  • Partner with teams across the organization on behalf of the Transformation department, and works closely with senior executives, operations leaders, the People team and Communications to provide expert consultation, coordination and support to organizational committees as required.
  • Provide subject matter expertise on strategic initiatives both internally and externally and liaises with other BC healthcare organizations and the Ministry of Health.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Health Services Administration, Business Administration or relevant field with five (5) to seven (7) year's recent, related experience in project management and facilitating and managing consultation processes with a wide range of stakeholder groups.
  • Excellent communication skills to function within a complex interdisciplinary environment including ability to communicate with the physician community.
  • Computer literacy with word-processing, spreadsheet, presentation, project management and database applications.

Knowledge & Abilities

  • Initiative, vision, independent thinking and creative problem-solving abilities to implement strategic initiatives.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of project management principles, methodologies, and ability to coach team members on these skills.
  • Demonstrated understanding of communication methodology to ensure that stakeholder engagement and communications are understood at all levels within a complex internal and external network.
  • Change management, and influencing decision-making at the individual, group, and organizational level
  • Effective facilitation, persuasion and negotiation abilities to achieve consensus, resolve conflict and achieve desired outcomes.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills to function within a complex interdisciplinary environment
  • Works effectively under time pressure to meet deadlines, balance work priorities and resolve problems in a timely manner.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.

As per Ministry of Health policy, all health care workers working in publicly-funded health care facilities are required to report their past receipt of certain vaccines or history of certain infections. Collecting these records will allow for offering of any missing vaccines, and for appropriate actions to be taken in the event of any future exposure to a communicable disease or during outbreaks. For all new hires and appointments to Vancouver Coastal Health, you will be asked to provide this information as part of the onboarding process.
