Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) is looking for a Visual Field Technician 2 to join the team at Vancouver General Hospital in Vancouver, BC. Apply today to join our team!

 

As a Visual Field Technician 2, you will:

  • Work as a member of the Eye Care Centre team.

  • Perform complex diagnostic ophthalmic procedures and assessments.

  • Perform visual field and other ophthalmic tests on patients utilizing automated and manual tests (Sita/Full Goldman), dark adaptation, occupational colour vision tests and provides test and treatment information for interpretation by medical staff.

  • Provide work direction to Visual Fields Assistants and other designated staff, as required.

  • Provide demonstration/teaching to Visual Field Assistants in learning how to administer the basic Goldman and other related tests, as required.

  • Review and ensure that the tests are performed properly, as required.

 

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Graduation from a recognized program in ophthalmic technology, plus two year’s recent, related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to deal with others effectively.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Ability to supervise
  • Ability to organize work.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.

The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes. Successful applicants may be required to complete a Criminal Records Review Check.
