Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) is looking for a Coordinator, Visual Field Technician 3 to join the team at Vancouver General Hospital in Vancouver, BC. Apply today to join our team!

 

As a Coordinator, Visual Field Technician 3, you will:

  • Work in a team based environment in conjunction with the Manager, Eye Care Centre as well as medical, technical and clerical staff.
  • Be responsible for overseeing the Visual Field area, performing related administrative duties, and supervising designated Visual Field staff.
  • Duties include coordinating staffing and scheduling activities, supervising work activities, overseeing various staffing issues, orientation and training, and assisting with staff selection, reviewing and revising policies and procedures, ensuring staff are instructed in the use of new protocols/procedures and equipment, overseeing the quality control, continuous quality improvement and occupational health and safety, monitoring departmental inventories, and preparing reports on departmental workload activity.
  • Perform complex diagnostic ophthalmic procedures and assessments by testing patient’s visual fields and colour visions by means of automated and manual tests (Sita/Full Goldman), static and dark adaptation techniques.
  • Provide test and treatment information for interpretation by medical staff, in accordance with established procedures.
  • Test and evaluate the performance of the Visual Field Assistant in administering the basic Goldman and other related tests, as required.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Graduation form a recognized program in ophthalmic technology, plus three year’s recent, related experience including one year in a supervisory capacity or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
