Come work as a Therapeutic Endoscopist with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH)!

The Division of Gastroenterology at Vancouver General Hospital seeks a locum gastroenterologist who is qualified in the area of therapeutic endoscopy.  The candidate must have completed an advanced therapeutic endoscopy fellowship beyond core gastroenterology training at a Canadian, American or European university centre.  

 

A minimum of two years of experience, either via a two-year fellowship or its equivalent in clinical experience beyond fellowship, at an academic centre, is mandatory.  One to two years of advanced training in ERCP, endoscopic ultrasound, luminal stenting, balloon enteroscopy and endoscopic mucosal resection is required. Academic proficiency as reflected by the acquisition of an advanced academic degree beyond a basic medical degree (e.g. MSc, PhD or MD by thesis) and a strong publication and teaching record are preferable. 

The candidate must also have Royal College of Physician and Surgeons of Canada certification in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology or have qualifications that provide for exemption from these requirements.    In addition, the successful candidate must be eligible to be licensed to practice as a Gastroenterologist in the Province of British Columbia.

 

The successful applicant will show demonstrated potential in teaching and will be expected to participate in the undergraduate as well as postgraduate teaching activities of the Division and Department.

Education, Licensing, & Experience:

  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - Desired
  • Current College of Physicians of BC (CPSBC) - Eligible
  • Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA) - Mandatory
  • Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada (FRCPC) - Mandatory
