Come work as an Academic Interventional Neuroradiologist with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH)!

Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) is seeking a 0.6 FTE clinical and academic Neuroradiologist with fellowship training in Interventional Neuroradiology to join a dynamic group of 42 academic radiologists providing general and subspecialty interventional radiological services to Vancouver General Hospital and UBC Hospital.  Preferred start date is March 1, 2026. 

 

All candidates must hold an MD degree (or equivalent), have completed Fellowship training in Interventional Neuroradiology, and be eligible for licensure in the Province of British Columbia.  All applicants must also be currently certified by, or eligible for certification by, the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.  Subspecialty certification in Neuroradiology is desired.

 

The successful applicant will be located at VGH and UBC Hospitals, with primary affiliation in the Section of Interventional Neuroradiology.  This Section is currently comprised of three Interventional Neuroradiologists and two Endovascular Neurosurgeons.  The successful applicant will also be part of the 6 member Neuroradiology Section. The successful candidate will meet the following requirements:

 

  1. Interventional Neuroradiology fellowship training and significant relevant clinical experience in:

        a. Cerebral and spinal diagnostic angiography

        b. Endovascular treatment of acute and chronic ischemic cerebrovascular disease

        c. Diagnosis and potential management of cerebrovascular conditions causing hemorrhagic stroke

        d. Endovascular management of acute head and neck vascular conditions

        e. Pre-operative tumor embolization, including of the head, neck and spine

        f. Simple and complex spinal interventions such as biopsies, vertebroplasty, and ablation

  1. Proficiency in performing cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine pain management procedures with an emphasis on fluoroscopic guidance
  2. Knowledge and experience in diagnosis and management of head and neck vascular malformations.
  3. Additional proficiency in musculoskeletal and general body interventional fluoroscopic and ultrasound guided procedures including, but are not limited to, small and large joint arthrograms and pain management, general biopsies and women’s fertility such as hysterosalpingograms and fallopian tube recanalization
  4. Primary on-call responsibilities will be with the Section of Interventional Neuroradiology at Vancouver General Hospital

 

Teaching activities include Undergraduate instruction, and supervision of Fellows in Interventional Neuroradiology.  The Interventional Neuroradiology Fellowship Program is based at Vancouver General Hospital, and currently accepts 2 Interventional Neuroradiology Fellows annually.  In addition to teaching responsibilities, there are many research opportunities available throughout the UBC Neurosciences program. The successful applicant will be expected to contribute to the Division’s academic mandate. 

 

The successful candidate will also be required to work in remote Teleradiology coverage and take part in 24/7/365 Radiology service coverage from Vancouver General Hospital Emergency Department. The clinical service includes X-ray, Ultrasound, CT (head to toe including Cardiac and Head and Neck CTA) and MRI in the acute setting (ie. Acute abdomen, MRCP, MSK, Neuro). The clinical service includes covering and reporting studies for remote services across the province of BC. 

University appointment at the University of British Columbia will be granted in the clinical stream commensurate with previous rank/experience.

  • Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada (FRCSC) – Desired
