The Healthy Public Policy Regional Practice Lead will work closely with academic institutions and national collaborating centres to develop healthy public policy advocacy practices. In addition, the Regional Practice Lead will coach other team members and create training and orientation activities to support practice development.

We seek someone with experience in public policy advocacy, evaluation, coaching and expertise in evidence reviews, knowledge translation, report writing, and policy development.

We require the Lead to have experience in policy advocacy, project management and partnership development.

As a Healthy Public Policy, Regional Practice Lead with Vancouver Coastal Health you will:

• Report to the Manager of Healthy Public Policy, the Regional Practice Lead for Healthy Public Policy (HPP) is responsible for promoting excellence and advancing professional practices relevant to the strategic direction of the organization.
• Work in close collaboration with Medical Health Officers and other staff in VCH’s Office of the Chief Medical Health Officer and other relevant internal/external stakeholders, the Regional Practice Lead guides the application and standardization of practice standards, monitoring and evaluation systems, and best practices within the organization.
• Provide leadership and expert consultative advice on scope of practice, research and evaluation, policy monitoring, policy analysis, and policy advocacy to assist in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the Office of the Chief MHOs strategic health promotion work.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education & Experience

• Master’s Degree in Public Policy, Public Health, Public Administration, Political Science or a suitable related field of study supplemented with five (5) to seven (7) year’s recent, related experience in government overseeing complex projects, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• This is a management level position and past experience and training relating to staff capacity building and performance monitoring, motivation, and team-building is a major asset.

Knowledge & Abilities

• Understands available resources for practice and keeps quality in the forefront of all resource utilization decisions; provides knowledgeable input into the planning and resources allocation for Service(s)/Program(s) within VCH.
• Demonstrates ability to manage staff and coordinate between different teams and corporate divisions.
• Facilitates, collaborates and negotiates for effective resolution of practice issues.
• Keeps informed about evolving tends and practices, shares knowledge and supports staff to integrate evidence-based practice.
• Fosters collaborative and effective working relationships to support and lead the professional practice and ongoing development of staff and contribute to an atmosphere of trust and mutual respect.
• Familiarity with media monitoring, CRM, and data visualization software.
• Demonstrated experience with curriculum development and workshop delivery.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and design program evaluation strategy.
• Demonstrated strategic planning, strategic communications, staff engagement and public engagement skills and experience.
• Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
