Come Join Vancouver Coastal Health’s Facilities and Property Management team! We are small but efficient team of dedicated staff who support the leased and community owned sites. Our department works on a supportive and collaborative model where each team member is vital to the success of the department.

This position is with our trades team and is a mobile tech, servicing Vancouver, Richmond, North Shore, Sunshine Coast and Squamish. This is an exciting position where every day is different and you will be able to make an impact on supporting our sites. The type of work you will be doing is including but not limited to minor furniture repairs, minor plumbing and electrical work, small moves and be the first point for on site emergencies.

Work hours are 8:30am-4:30pm Wednesday - Sunday but flexible with days (weekends are required with 3 week days) and with start and end times. A vehicle, phone, and tools are provided as well as a clothing allowance. Vacation starts at 4 weeks after 1 year as well as ample sick time is provided and may include an annual trades bonus. On call and overtime will be available but not a requirement.

As a Mobile Service Technician with VCH you will:

  • Perform a variety of maintenance and repair duties related to buildings, equipment and furniture, and perform mechanical and electrical repairs to equipment and systems.
  • Rapidly respond to urgent maintenance events, and assist other team members, and/or restoration companies, in their duties to ensure a timely and complete delivery of service to our clients.
  • Act in various capacities, supporting maintenance in general terms for the leased and community owned facilities.
  • Be required to have excellent skills as a customer service advocate, accelerating the resolution of customer concerns.
  • Be required to work complete inter-site work assignments, and work in a support role to trades personnel.
  • Purchase various smaller equipment and tools as needed, based upon established reorder and inventory levels.
  • Regularly maintain related departmental financial and other documentation, as well the work order databases to ensure up-to-date reporting in accordance with departmental and organizational requirements.


Education & Experience

  • Grade 12, plus three (3) years’ recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Valid BC Driver’s License as local area travel requires the daily use of a company vehicle.

Knowledge & Abilities

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to deal with others effectively.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
  • Ability to organize work.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.

The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes. Successful applicants may be required to complete a Criminal Records Review Check.

As per the current Public Health Orders (Long Term Care/Seniors Assisted Living Provincial Health Officer Order and the Health Sector Order), as of October 26, 2021, all employees working for Vancouver Coastal Health must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19. Proof of vaccination status will be required.
