Come work as a General Surgeon with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH)!
The Vancouver Coastal Division of General Surgery is seeking a general surgeon to support the on-call and elective surgical capacity at the hospital.
The general surgeon will be serving the sea-to-sky and North Shore population through a combination of elective work and Acute care Surgery (ACS) coverage. Night-time call is divided equally within the division and all surgeons are expected to participate in covering 6 weeks of ACS daytime call per year. Access to OR for elective cases will be on average 2 days per month and the majority of the time will be at Squamish General Hospital. There is opportunity to pick up additional OR time that becomes available during vacation time. Endoscopy allocation is about 1/2 day per week. There is opportunity to travel and provide relief in the communities of Sechelt and Powell River.
The ideal candidate is expected to work collegially and collaboratively within the group. Preference will be given to candidates who have completed a fellowship.
Lions Gate Hospital is a recognized Level 3 trauma centre and a key acute care provider for a population exceeding 270,000 residents across the North Shore and Sea-to-Sky Country. The surgeons at Lions Gate are a part of coastal community of care and are expected to provide services to the entire coastal community. Our new facilities, including the Paul Myers Tower with 108 private patient rooms and eight new operating rooms, ensure we remain at the forefront of healthcare delivery in the VCH region.
