It’s an exciting time to join the Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) Communications team. We are seeking an experienced marketing and communications professional to lead and support the launch of an integrated Recruitment & Retention Marketing & Communications Strategy.
The Communications Leader S,pecial Projects will oversee the implementation of an integrated Recruitment & Retention Marketing & Communications Strategy that recognizes, celebrates and inspires healthcare workers to be a part of oneVCH and to align their purpose-driven values with those of our deeply committed 26,000 strong team. The Leader will be responsible for ensuring VCH is promoted as an employer of choice as a world-class innovator in medical care, research and teaching.
The Leader is a resourceful, creative, and customer-focused individual capable of seeing the big picture and yet not shy about rolling up his/her sleeves to work shoulder-to-shoulder with team members to implement tactics and meet deadlines. The Leader should be a dynamic self-starter capable of prioritizing competing deadlines, able to connect the dots between the various teams involved and confidently deliver sound marketing and communications advice.
While leading the implementation of VCH’s Recruitment & Retention Marketing & Communications Strategy is the primary accountability for this role, the successful candidate may be asked to support other similar marketing or communications initiatives at VCH as workload permits.

 

As a Communications Leader, Special Projects with Vancouver Coastal Health you will:

  • Demonstrated knowledge, understanding and application of marketing and communications concepts, strategies, and technical skills required in the planning, execution and evaluation of marketing and communications campaigns for internal and external audiences.
  • Superior writing and editing skills, to ensure accuracy and quality of all communication materials and marketing collateral.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects on budget and on deadline; supervises internal and coordinates external suppliers.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work effectively as an internal consultant to creatively meet client needs and build strategic alliances with internal/external stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of stakeholder needs and an acute awareness of the impact of actions.
  • Demonstrated ability to set short and long-term priorities, and to effectively engage team members in responding to new priorities and making necessary changes to work flow in the face of emerging issues or client demands.
  • Applies superior conflict management, critical thinking, judgment and political expertise to develop and present key messages, and persuade and influence internal and external stakeholders, ensuring effective and appropriate communications.
  • Ability to handle highly confidential and sensitive issues with skill, tact and diplomacy and to act with a high degree of ethical and professional behaviour.

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant discipline, particularly marketing or communications
  • Seven (7) to ten (10) years of previous communications and project management experience, preferably within large, multidisciplinary organizations, or an equivalent combination of education, training, experience.
  • Experience in health care and/or other public sector organizations is desirable.

As per the current Public Health Orders (Long Term Care/Seniors Assisted Living Provincial Health Officer Order and the Health Sector Order), as of October 26, 2021, all employees working for Vancouver Coastal Health must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19. Proof of vaccination status will be required.
