Vancouver Coastal Health is looking to hire a Cardiovascular Program Coordinator to join the Cardiac Unit team. Apply today to join our team!

 

As a Cardiovascular Program Coordinator with Vancouver Coastal Health you will:

  • Be responsible for the development, implementation, and ongoing evaluation of the cardiovascular waitlist management system.
  • Assist referring physicians in the triage and placement of patients requiring cardiac surgery or cardiac intervention within the recommended timeframes.
  • Provide education and support for patients/families during the waiting period and conducts follow-up of patients post procedures.
  • Work closely with the British Columbia (BC) Cardiac Registry and other Cardiovascular Program Coordinators in the province to ensure efficient and equitable access to cardiac services for all BC patients. Key partnerships are with Cardiac Sciences interdisciplinary team, hospital staff, physicians, external health care facilities, government and community agencies, BC Cardiac Registry and other Program Coordinators in the province. Provides supervision to cardiac waitlist clerks and surgery and cardiology booking clerks.

Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in Nursing or Health Sciences discipline and three years (3) to five (5) years’ recent cardiac experience in a large, complex health care environment with expertise in program development and project management, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Master’s Degree in Health Administration or Master’s Degree in a Health Sciences discipline preferred.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of health care delivery systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in collaboration/consultation with others.
  • Demonstrated skills in leadership, communication, mediation and negotiation.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment, under pressure and maintain priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to think laterally, solve problems, make decisions and take action in a crisis management environment.
  • Fosters collaborative and effective working relationships that promote cooperative goal achievement and contribute to an atmosphere of trust and mutual respect.
  • Effectively utilizes verbal, written and technological communication skills when obtaining information, providing advice/information and otherwise communicating electronically, verbally or in written format.

As per Ministry of Health policy, all health care workers working in publicly-funded health care facilities are required to report their past receipt of certain vaccines or history of certain infections. Collecting these records will allow for offering of any missing vaccines, and for appropriate actions to be taken in the event of any future exposure to a communicable disease or during outbreaks.
