Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) is seeking a full-time academic Cardiothoracic Radiologist to join Vancouver Imaging, a dynamic group of 40 academic Radiologists providing general and subspecialty diagnostic along with interventional radiologic services to Vancouver General Hospital (VGH) and the University of British Columbia Hospital (UBCH), in affiliation with the University of British Columbia (UBC).  VGH is the quaternary care center for the Province of British Columbia for thoracic surgery and lung transplantation.

 

We are seeking an academically oriented Cardiothoracic Radiologist with a strong interest and experience in teaching and research.  A focus on high quality clinical work and service is paramount. The Section operates a high-volume clinical practice, involving adult chest radiographs, thoracic and cardiac CTs, and thoracic and cardiac MRIs. 

 

As an Academic Diagnostic Cardiothoracic Radiologist with Vancouver Coastal Health, you will:

  • Work with three full-time Cardiothoracic Radiologists. The Cardiothoracic Radiology Section works closely with the Divisions of Respirology, Thoracic Surgery, Cardiology, Cardiac Surgery and Pathology.
  • Play a key role in training diagnostic radiology residents, respirology residents and medical students who regularly rotate through the section. The Section runs a post graduate fellowship program in cardiothoracic imaging, with 3 Fellows annually.
  • Participate and lead multidisciplinary meetings and collaboration. The Section is integral to Thoracic Surgery, Cardiology and Respirology (Interstitial Lung Disease) multidisciplinary meetings and collaboration.
  • Perform and teach CT guided transthoracic biopsies and pre-operative localizations. The Section performs a robust number of these procedures.

Qualifications

Education, Licensing, & Experience:

  • Current College of Physicians of BC (CPSBC) – Full
  • Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA) - Mandatory
  • Emergency Experience - Mandatory
  • Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada (FRCSC) – Desired
  • The candidate must hold an MD degree or equivalent
  • The candidate must have completed fellowship training in both Cardiac and Thoracic Imaging, Emergency Trauma Imaging and Musculoskeletal Imaging, as the successful applicant will also be expected to participate in other clinical rotations, including 24/7 emergency/Trauma service and Musculoskeletal service.
  • All applicants must be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and the Licentiate of the Medical Council of Canada (LMCC).
  • Candidates will have expertise in interpretation of Chest Radiography, Thoracic and Cardiac CT and Cardiac and Thoracic MRI. Performing percutaneous interventional procedures (CT guided transthoracic biopsies and preoperative localizations) is a requirement.

  • Candidates will have expertise in interpretation of Chest Radiography, Thoracic and Cardiac CT and Cardiac and Thoracic MRI.

  • Ability to interpret full body imaging is a requirement, in order to support remote Radiology service across the province of BC.
