Vancouver Coastal Health is looking for a Registered Dietitian to join the team in Vancouver, BC as a Clinical Instructor. Apply today to join our team!

 

As a Dietitian, Clinical Instructor with VCH you will:

  • Operate the clinical education and training program for dietetics students for an assigned area, in accordance with established policies and procedures and professional standards.
  • Supervise and ensure dietetics students receive required supervision, training and orientation.
  • Participate in student education and/or evaluations and provide clinical services to patients, as required.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Current full registration as a Dietitian with the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC (CHCPBC).
  • Registration with Restricted Activities A and C.
  • Four (4) years' recent related health care experience including two years’ experience teaching students.
  • One (1) year experience in a leadership/supervisory role and completion of a course on adult basic education, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Eligible for clinical faculty appointment at the level of Clinical Instructor or higher at a recognized educational institution.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge of clinical dietetic theory and practice within a client and family centred model of care.
  • Knowledge of the standards of practice and guidelines for clinical practitioners established by the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC (CHCPBC).
  • Comprehensive knowledge of adult education principles, methods and tools.
  • Knowledge of enteral nutrition.
  • Broad knowledge of interprofessional team competencies, including knowledge of other health care disciplines and their role in client care.
  • Knowledge of research process and methodology.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess client responses to care plan, and to respond appropriately.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with students, other health care staff, clients and their families, both one-on-one and in groups.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with (both verbally and in writing), and to deal effectively with co-workers, physicians, other health care professionals, students, clients and their families, and external agencies.
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate client/patient/group education classes.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and implement nutrition care plans in relation to client/family priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to deal effectively with conflict situations.
  • Demonstrated ability to adjust to new or unexpected events.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize and prioritize work.
  • Demonstrated ability to problem-solve and to think critically.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach and provide effective consultation.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide leadership and work direction.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach, mentor, and promote teamwork.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in collaboration with others as a member of the interdisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop educational programs and materials.
  • Demonstrated ability to make public/professional presentations.
  • General knowledge of Trauma Informed Practice and Harm Reduction approaches and Strengths-based care.
  • Demonstrated ability to promote Indigenous Cultural Safety.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide competent and culturally safe care in a variety of settings and with diverse populations.
  • Demonstrated computer literacy to operate a computerized client care information system as well as applicable word processing, spreadsheet and database software applications.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.

The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes.

Collecting these records will allow for offering of any missing vaccines, and for appropriate actions to be taken in the event of any future exposure to a communicable disease or during outbreaks.
