Vancouver Coastal Health is looking for a Therapist, Eating Disorders to join the Eating Disorders team in Richmond, BC. Apply today to join our team!

 

As a Therapist focused in Eating Disorders you will:

  • Work as part of an interdisciplinary team to provide therapeutic treatment services for youth and adults presenting with body image concerns and/or disordered eating. Develops, implements and evaluates group therapy modules and facilitates individual and group therapy.
  • Provide case management, comprehensive treatment plans, and supports discharge planning services.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team and other community resources, provides consultation services and education as appropriate.
  • Participate in committees and meetings, engages in on-going program planning, development and quality improvement activities, and maintains and updates own knowledge.

About the VCH Eating Disorders Program: 

 

The Vancouver Coastal Health Eating Disorders Program is a regional, community-based outpatient program. We have a multidisciplinary team that includes therapists, outreach counsellors, recreation therapist, dietitians, nurses, family therapist, physicians and psychiatrists.  We works with children, youth and adults at various stages of their recovery process in collaboration with their Primary Care Providers and offer a mix of individual and group programming. If you enjoy a committed and fun work environment, this team will be a great fit for you!

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Masters’ degree in a Behavioural Science discipline from a recognized program.
  • Two years (2) years’ recent related experience providing therapy to youth and/or adults with a focus in the treatment of disordered eating, or an equivalent combination of education, training or experience.
  • Valid BC Driver’s Licence. Local travel may require the use of a personal vehicle.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Comprehensive knowledge of youth and adult mental health with a focus on disordered eating including best practices and modalities of treatment.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of family therapy related to eating disorders.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of group therapy.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of psychotherapeutic and counselling skills.
  • Broad knowledge of legislation and government policies and procedures relating to children, youth and their families.
  • Broad knowledge of community resources, service mandates and referral guidelines.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with clients and their families, colleagues, physicians and other health care professionals, both one-on-one and in groups.
  • Demonstrated listening and information seeking skills that promote communication and lead to a co-operative approach to problem solving within an interdisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate groups.
  • Demonstrated ability to set priorities, organize work and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and in collaboration with others as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct mental health assessments and provide treatment planning and case coordination.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with community partners.
  • Demonstrated ability to problem solve, adjust to new or unexpected events, and deal effectively with conflict situations.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated ability to operated related office equipment.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
  • Basic computer literacy and ability to operate a computerized client care information system and work processing, spread sheet, Internet and email software.

The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes. Successful applicants may be required to complete a Criminal Records Review Check.

As per Ministry of Health policy, all health care workers working in publicly-funded health care facilities are required to report their past receipt of certain vaccines or history of certain infections. Collecting these records will allow for offering of any missing vaccines, and for appropriate actions to be taken in the event of any future exposure to a communicable disease or during outbreaks.
