Vancouver Coastal Health is looking for a Quality Assurance/Compliance Coordinator to support Community Strategic Initiatives - Mental Health Act Compliance. Apply today to join our team!  

 

As a Quality Assurance/Compliance Coordinator - Mental Health records with Vancouver Coastal Health you will:

  • Be responsible for reviewing and leading quality assurance measures to ensure the accurate and timely completion and distribution of Mental Health Act forms by staff, patients and physicians.
  • Assist the department with the development of standard procedures, guidelines and controls to improvement their electronic health record management to meet Mental Health Act (MHA) compliance and disclosure requirements.
  • Develop and implement processes to ensure the availability of a complete inventory of up-to-date forms and mechanisms for document storage.
  • Assist with the development, refinement and maintenance of MHA forms auditing processes.
  • Perform monthly and quarterly audits and reports on audit outcomes.
  • Review outcomes with the Director on an ongoing basis and provide recommendations for improvements and risk reduction.
  • Work with the departmental partners to standardize processes for the release of documentation consistent with MHRB disclosure requirements.
  • Provides training and educational sessions and materials to assist in staff and physician understanding of forms process, content and legal requirements to complete forms and meet notice requirements.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Health Information Science, Records Management or other relevant field plus three (3) years of recent, related experience including significant experience with documentation, records management and disclosure requirements in a mental health care setting or an equivalent combination of education, training & experience.
  • Knowledge and experience with electronic health records required.

Knowledge & Abilities

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Mental Health Act (MHA) legislation, regulations, standards and policies.
  • Ability to assess policies and procedures, interpret legislation and directives, and formulate recommendations.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail, ability to be thorough and accurate with excellent data management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to participate in the development and the implementation of new processes and procedures related to services in a health care setting.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of records management systems, policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, implement, and organize and problem solve in a complex dynamic environment and across multiple sites.
  • Ability to prepare education materials and facilitate training sessions/workshops.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Develops and maintains strong relationships with key internal and external partners to promote and enhance services provided with sensitivity to diversity and indigenous lens.
  • Practices the recognition, inclusion and support of all types and aspects of diversity at all stages of engagement, with an understanding of the issues faced by people from equity-deserving groups.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.

As per Ministry of Health policy, all health care workers working in publicly-funded health care facilities are required to report their past receipt of certain vaccines or history of certain infections. Collecting these records will allow for offering of any missing vaccines, and for appropriate actions to be taken in the event of any future exposure to a communicable disease or during outbreaks.
