Richmond Hospital Department of Psychiatry is currently seeking a psychiatrist to join as a permanent fulltime member in the hospital.
Richmond Hospital 2 West In-Patient Service (0.5 FTE position) is based at Richmond Hospital and specifically provides services to admitted in-patients in hospital on the 2 West Unit. The Psychiatrist would provide psychiatric assessment and treatment to patients admitted in medical and surgical wards, do consultants in the Emergency Department and would liaise and collaborate with the primary care team for integrated patient care.
Adult Mental Health Team (0.3 FTE position) Based in the community, this program provides longer-term management of severe and persistent mental health conditions requiring an interdisciplinary treatment team. The majority of referrals are from Family Physicians in the community, the Emergency Department, as well as the In-Patient Unit.
Concurrent Disorders Program (0.2 FTE position) This role involves providing specialized psychiatric care to individuals with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders. The psychiatrist will collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams across acute and community settings to deliver integrated, evidence-based treatment, consultation, and care planning.
Richmond Hospital is a fully accredited, 228 acute care bed facility serving a local population of 200,000 with an additional catchment area of almost 120,000. Richmond Hospital is focused on meeting the needs of the people it serves and is seeking a Psychiatrist to provide services to an adult population in a team-based model.
Richmond is the fourth most populous and fast growing municipalities in Metro Vancouver. To meet the growing demand for healthcare services, Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) is ensuring we plan for the future. Richmond Hospital is undergoing plans for a campus wide expansion and renewal. As announced on July 2020 by the Premier and Minster of Health, the aims is to build a new acute care tower. Incorporating modernized healthcare design principles, the new facility provide increased inpatient care beds, perioperative services, medical imaging and emergency services to support quality patient care and staff wellness and safety. Detailed planning is currently underway with a project completion target of 2028.
