As a Senior Decision Support Advisor with Vancouver Coastal Health you will:

  • Identify, develop, implement and maintain innovative responses to the information needs of the organization as well as ensure the department’s technical infrastructure is developed and sustained.
  • Synthesize information and requests, from all levels of the organization, including operational and clinical management, to provide analysis and recommendations which have direct impact on decisions relating to the financial, human resources, and patient care services.
  • Project manage and support, training, managing confidential information, user needs assessment and liaising with end users of decision support technology.
  • Act as a resource to Decision Support Advisors and provides senior expertise with respect to quality measurement and evaluation, utilization management strategies and information management and analysis.
  • Liaise with staff and leadership in Finance, Quality Improvement, Change Initiatives, IMITS, Information Access and Privacy, Client Registration & Information Services, Health Information Management (HIM) and Human Resources.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Education & Experience

  • Masters Degree in Business Administration, Information Systems or equivalent industry experience/certification, plus five (5) years’ recent, related experience including technical experience in working with databases and decision support tools, preferably in a health care setting.
  • Experience in managing technical projects and directing technical staff, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Knowledge & Abilities

  • Working knowledge using cloud data warehousing solutions (e.g. Synapse Analytics, Redshift, etc.)
  • Preferred knowledge of Azure or other cloud infrastructure services.
  • Demonstrated experience building and optimizing data pipelines (ETL).
  • Preferred proficiency coding in Python, Scala, R, Java.
  • Preferred experience with big data tools: Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, etc.
  • Advanced knowledge of decision support tools and databases.
  • General knowledge of current health care systems, issues and trends.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, critical thinking and effective decision-making.
  • Ability to analyze and problem-solve complex issues towards effective solutions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with all levels of the organization, including advanced report presentation and writing skills.
  • Effective project management skills to define deliverables and develop project plans.
  • Effective facilitation and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to respond to changing priorities and unforeseen circumstances.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize and balance work.
  • Ability to operate related equipment, including computer software applications.

 

As per the current Public Health Orders (Long Term Care/Seniors Assisted Living Provincial Health Officer Order and the Health Sector Order), as of October 26, 2021, all employees working for Vancouver Coastal Health must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19.
