Please note that Lower Mainland Medical Imaging will be reorganized effective January 19, 2024 with positions falling under separate employers of VCH, PHC, PHSA and FH depending on worksite. Candidates interested in working at any lower mainland worksite are encouraged to still apply to this opportunity. Vancouver Coastal Health is looking for a Nuclear Medicine Technologist Supervisor (S2A) to join the Nuclear Medicine team at Lions Gate Hospital in North Vancouver, BC.  Apply today to join our team!

 

As a Nuclear Medicine Technologist you will:

  • Work in a team based environment and is responsible for the supervision and coordination of technical and staffing activities of assigned area.
  • Oversee the quality of technical work performed, participates in recruitment and performance management and coaches and orientates team members.
  • Update and standardize policy and procedure manuals, compiles financial and statistical reports and responds to enquiries.
  • Facilitate and coordinate research and development projects, participates in the management of computerized information systems and maintains inventory of supplies.
  • Act as the Site Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) for Nuclear Medicine and promotes a culture of radiation safety for staff, patients and visitors.
  • Implement site specific and regional radiation safety practices as directed by the Regional Radiation Safety Officer (RRSO) to ensure the NM department is compliant with all Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) Acts and Regulations as well as all applicable Provincial and Federal regulations (e.g. WorkSafe BC, Transport Canada), licensing and organizational requirements. Performs technical procedures when required.

Qualifications

 

Education & Experience

  • Certification with the CAMRT.
  • Completion of a Radiation Safety Officer course from recognized program applicable for the use of radioactive materials under CNSC regulations.
  • Four (4) years' recent, related experience, including one (1) year's supervisory and leadership experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification - Basic Life Support (BCLS) level.
  • Valid BC Driver’s Licence as required. Travel will require the use of a personal vehicle.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Medical Imaging theory and practice for Nuclear Medicine imaging, radiopharmacy dispensing and radiation safety within a client and family centred care model.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of CNSC regulations.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Nuclear Medicine cameras and computer applications.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the standards of practice and guidelines for Medical Imaging practitioners established by the CAMRT.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of evidence-based practice.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of organization policies, procedures and standards of care, including practice of safe work procedures with modality equipment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of research process and methodology.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of PACS/Radiology Information Systems, i.e. digital imaging, image archiving and retrieval.
  • Demonstrated ability to function as an effective leader, motivator, facilitator, and team member.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach, demonstrate, facilitate, coach and mentor staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop procedure protocols and manuals.
  • Demonstrated ability to promote an evidence based practice and a culture of creativity and enquiry.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop project plans and implement new projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate (orally and in writing) and deal effectively with clients and their families, coworkers, physicians, other health care staff, and staff of external agencies.
  • Demonstrated ability to deal with and/or guide others in resolution of conflict issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize and prioritize work.
  • Demonstrated skill in Nuclear Medicine techniques and the use of applicable equipment and supplies.
  • Demonstrated skill in CPR techniques.
  • Demonstrated computer skills.
  • General knowledge of Trauma Informed Practice and Harm Reduction approaches and Strengths-based care.
  • Demonstrated ability to promote Indigenous Cultural Safety.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide competent and culturally safe care in a variety of settings and with diverse populations.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.

The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes. Successful applicants may be required to complete a Criminal Records Review Check.
