Come work as a Midwife with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH)!

North Vancouver, BC, is a vibrant, active city nestled at the foot of the North Shore Mountains. Prized for its easy access to nature, trails, and recreation, North Vancouver is home to a diverse community that enjoys a rich quality of life. It's no surprise that the city has experienced incredible growth over the last decade and continues to grow. We have seen a significant increase in young families seeking pregnancy, birth, and postpartum care.

Our maternity team includes seven full-time obstetricians/gynecologists, a large team of pediatricians, four full-time, full-scope midwives, a solo-practice registered midwife offering prenatal and postpartum services, a large GP-led maternity clinic, and a legion of dedicated and skilled nurses. Our Labour and Delivery unit has seven labour rooms, a Level 2 NICU, a nurse-run NST clinic, a dedicated OR, and a 14-bed postpartum unit. The maternity team at Lions Gate Hospital (LGH) boasts a reputation for exceptional collaboration, support, and camaraderie.

The midwifery practice in North Vancouver offers full-scope midwifery services, including pregnancy, birth, and postpartum care to families on the North Shore, Bowen Island, the Sea-to-Sky corridor, and beyond. They enjoy exceptional interprofessional relationships and support from all of the maternity/newborn teams and are valued members at LGH. The midwives are also very active in Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) committee work, the facilitation and teaching of skill-based workshops, and are dedicated to teaching the next generation of midwifery leaders.

The successful candidate will be expected to apply for and hold a valid license with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) and membership with the Midwives Association of British Columbia (MABC). If successful, you will join an existing midwifery practice and provide full-scope midwifery antenatal, intrapartum, and postpartum care as part of a well-established practice. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong initiative in leadership, teaching, and professional development and possess the aptitude, motivation, and flexibility needed to work successfully in a team. Proficiency in Cerner is an asset.

Please include with your application a cover letter, CV and any other relevant documents for review.
