Vancouver Coastal Health is looking for a Registered Dietitian to join the Home Support team at Bella Coola Medical Clinic in Bella Coola, BC. Apply today to join our team!

 

As a Clinical Dietitian with VCH you will:

  • Work in a team based environment to provide clinical dietetic services to clients/patients and designated care programs/clinics through the assessment, planning, implementing and outcome evaluation of nutritional goals and care plans.

ABOUT BELLA COOLA

 

Bella Coola sits in a mountain valley at the head of the North Bentinck Channel, 500 km north of Vancouver, with a population of about 1800 people. The community is at the end of a long, truly magnificent fjord, on the mainland coast of British Columbia. Bella Coola General Hospital has 10 acute bed, 5 residential beds and a 3 bed emergency department open 24/7, along with a laboratory, diagnostic imaging services, Telehealth, Mental Health, Public Health, Home & Community Support Services.  Also within the hospital are a medical clinic and a pharmacy.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Current full registration as a Dietitian with the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC (CHCPBC).
  • Registration with Restricted Activities A and C for designing, dispensing and/or administering therapeutic diets through enteral means as set out in the College Bylaws.
  • Two (2) years’ recent, related clinical experience in a medical/surgical care setting.
  • Valid BC drivers license. Travel requires use of a personal vehicle for which mileage will be reimbursed. Unless specified in the posting.

Knowledge & Abilities

  • Broad knowledge of clinical dietetic theory and practice within a client and family centred model of care.
  • Broad knowledge of the standards of practice and guidelines for clinical practitioners established by the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC (CHCPBC).
  • Broad knowledge of enteral nutrition.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and implement nutrition care plans in relation to client/family priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to deal effectively with conflict situations.
  • Demonstrated ability to adjust to new or unexpected events.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize and prioritize work.
  • Demonstrated ability to problem-solve and to think critically.
  • Broad knowledge of other health care disciplines and their role in client care.
  • Broad knowledge of research process and methodology.
  • Ability to interpret, explain and apply the applicable legislation in a variety of situations.
  • Ability to enforce regulatory provisions.
  • Ability to secure facts through investigation and inspection while adhering to the principals of administrative law and natural justice.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to deal effectively with others; including the ability to work in a team and client-focused environment.
  • Working knowledge of the potential nutritional needs of adults, youths, and children attending licensed care facilities such as therapeutic and texture modified diets and ability to evaluate clinical nutrition practice.
  • Demonstrated ability to promote Indigenous Cultural Safety.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide competent and culturally safety care in a variety of settings and with diverse populations.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
  • Ability to use a personal computer and applicable software.

Hybrid work schedules may be available (including both on site & remote) as applicable (with existing VCH policies and collective agreement requirements).

The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes.

As per Ministry of Health policy, all health care workers working in publicly-funded health care facilities are required to report their past receipt of certain vaccines or history of certain infections. Collecting these records will allow for offering of any missing vaccines, and for appropriate actions to be taken in the event of any future exposure to a communicable disease or during outbreaks.
