Vancouver Coastal Health is looking for a Registered Nurse OR Registered Psychiatric Nurse to join the Public Health Nursing team as a Clinical Operations Supervisor in Squamish, BC.  Apply today to join our team!

 

As a Clinical Operations Supervisor with VCH you will:

  • Administrate/oversee and provide supervision to designated staff and an interdisciplinary team of professionals including continuous communications, conflict resolution, performance recognition, coaching, performance management, safe work practices, workload and staffing issues.
  • Conduct Attendance Wellness, Respectful Workplace, accommodation and other meetings in conjunction with an HR Advisor. Recruits, hires, selects, mentors and retains staff.
  • Oversee all aspects of care delivery and daily activities for the designated program/service such as, but not limited to, immunization clinics including mass vaccination clinics for emerging pathogens such as COVID 19.
  • Ensure a high standard of care while overseeing and promoting interdisciplinary practice and ensuring a safe environment for staff.
  • Liaise with key stakeholders on the achievement of quality indicators and program goals and objectives.
  • Quality patient/client care is supported through a patient/client/family centred care model in accordance with established standards of professional practice and the vision and values of the organization.
  • Recruit, hire, select, mentor and retain staff, conduct performance reviews, oversee new hire clinical experience and regularly meets with staff to provide continuous communication strategies, clarify performance expectations and determine training and development needs. Facilitates solutions to work problems/issues.

This position may be required to work at more than one location/site across assigned geographical areas.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing (BScN) from an approved educational institution and five (5) years’ recent related experience in a designated clinical practice area within a large complex health organization. Strong facilitation, conflict management and resolution skills that include three (3) years’ recent supervisory/leadership experience, or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Valid BC Driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle for business-related purposes.
  • Regional travel across assigned geographic areas may be required, and will be compensated in accordance with applicable collective agreement provisions.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Comprehensive knowledge of community health services including current trends, best practices and modalities of treatment.
  • Broad knowledge of community health service delivery system, service mandates, referral guidelines, legislation and government policies.
  • Strong facilitation, conflict management and resolution skills
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct assessments, and to provide treatment planning and case coordination.
  • Demonstrated ability to function as an effective leader, motivator, coach/mentor, and team member within an interdisciplinary setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to model and foster a positive, collaborative, and respectful team working environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to continuously communicate effectively and strategically with colleagues, physicians and health care staff, both one-on-one and in groups.
  • Utilizes strong critical thinking skills when making decisions, resolving issues/conflict
  • Demonstrated ability to provide clinical and administrative supervision and consultation.
  • Demonstrated skills and ability to facilitate team building and to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Demonstrated ability to adjust to new or unexpected events, problem solve, and deal effectively with and/or guide others in resolution of conflict issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with clients and their families, colleagues, physician, and other health care staff, both one-on-one and in groups.
  • Demonstrated listening and information seeking skills that promotes open and direct communication and leads to a cooperative approach to problem solving.
  • Demonstrated ability to set priorities, organize work, and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with community partners, regional and provincial committee members and with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated skill in CPR techniques.
  • Ability to operate related equipment including applicable software applications.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.

The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes.
