An exciting opportunity is available to join the perinatal service in beautiful Squamish, BC. The Midwifery group is currently recruiting for two full-time permanent registered midwife to work in the community of Squamish, within the Sea to Sky corridor. Squamish residents are privileged to live less than an hour from Whistler’s world-renowned downhill ski & snowboard terrain, and the Callaghan Valley Cross Country Ski area. Outside of ski season, mountain bike terrain of all kinds is easily accessible.

 

In the Sea to Sky corridor, a dedicated group of maternity providers, including family practitioners and midwives, provide low risk obstetrical care. The hospital also has an emergency room, medical imaging, laboratory services and small inpatient unit. Patients are supported by a wide range of community-based services, including Public Health and Diabetic Outpatient Care. SGH works closely with Lions Gate Hospital should patients require a higher level of obstetric and/or intrapartum care. Newborn care is provided by the primary care providers on the perinatal team. The ideal applicant will have at least 3 years of work experience. The candidate is expected to work collegiately and collaboratively within the existing group of full-time registered midwives and in collaboration with the SGH maternity group. The candidate will support call coverage for Squamish General Hospital midwifery as well as the acute care coming trough the Maternity ward at Squamish General Hospital.

 

The successful candidate will be expected to apply for and hold a valid license with BCCNM and membership with MABC. If successful, you will join an existing midwifery practice & provide full-midwifery-scope antenatal, intrapartum & postpartum care as part of a well established midwifery practice. They will show strong initiative in leadership, teaching & professional development and demonstrate the aptitude, motivation & flexibility needed for working successfully in a team. Proficiency in Cerner is an asset.

 

Qualifications

Education, Licensing, & Experience:

  • Valid license with BCCNM
  • CMBC Registration
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
  • Fetal Health Surveillance (FHS)
  • Midwives Emergency Skills Program (MESP)
  • CMBC and MABC (in good standing)
