Come work as Neuro-rehab Physiatrist with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH)!

 

The spinal cord injury, brain injury, and neuromusculoskeletal programs at GF Strong are looking for 3 permanent specialists in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation with a focus in Neurologic rehabilitation to join our group. The roles include:

 

1) Primary SCI Physiatrist

 

Roles: Inpatient spinal cord injury rehabilitation: 4-8 months per year, with flexibility in FTE equivalents (0.45 typically). Outpatient clinics: 1-3 half days, focus of outpatient clinical practice to be discussed. Consult service: 2-4 months per year. Estimated to be 0.6 FTE billed fee for service. Prior billing history/estimated earnings available on request.

 

2) Primary ABI Physiatrist

 

Roles: Inpatient ABI/stroke rehabilitation: 4-6 month per year, with additional roles (transitional and outpatient intensive programs) available up to 10 months per year at 0.6-0.8 FTE. Outpatient clinics 1 half day per week. Consult service 2-4 months per year. Estimated to be 0.5 FTE billed fee for service. Prior billing history/estimate earning available on request.

 

3) NMS and SCI/ABI Physiatrist

 

Roles: Inpatient & consult NMS rehabilitation: 2 months per year (combined to a full time role those months). Combined opportunity for ABI/SCI inpatient roles anticipated for 3-6 further inpatient months, with consult service role responsibilities aligning with these services. Outpatient clinics availability (SCI and NMS) at 0.1-0.3 FTE.

 

Compensation for inpatient and outpatient work is via a clinical service contract, which is prorated to an annual full time rate of ~350,000/yr. Start date flexible, expected for July 1/2025.

 

On-call coverage: GF Strong and Vancouver Acute (largely comprised of VGH baclofen pump coverage), typically 3 weeks per year.

 

Participation in program development through education, quality improvement, research and/or administrative roles is encouraged and valued, with potential opportunities for compensation open to be discussed.

Qualifications

Education, Licensing, & Experience:

  • Current College of Physicians of BC (CPSBC) - Mandatory
  • Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA) - Mandatory
  • Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada (FRCPC) - Desired
