Come work as a Medical Coordinator with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH)!

Reporting to the Medical Director for Vancouver Community Long Term Care Services at VCH- Vancouver Community, the Medical Coordinator, provides clinical leadership for the Long Term Care site teams focusing on quality and coordination of medical learners. 

As a Medical Coordinator with Vancouver Coastal Health, you will:

  • Foster collaborative working relationships that support the clinical practice and ongoing development of the physicians, nurse practitioners and VCH staff with an expectation on providing team based care
  • Encourages and facilitates participation of Vancouver Long Term Care clinicians in quality improvement & research
  • Develops effective strategies that support the integration, implementation, evaluation, and sustainment of evidence-informed quality practice and knowledge translation across the Vancouver Long Term Care sites in collaboration with VCH stakeholders and medical leadership
  • Foster communication and collaborative working relationships with clinicians to assess learning needs and support the clinical practice and ongoing continuing professional development of Vancouver Long Term Care physicians and nurse practitioners with an emphasis on providing team-based long term care.
  • Facilitate interdisciplinary learning and skill development opportunities and events to support an environment of evidence-based clinical practice that fosters professional growth, wellness and development of physicians and nurse practitioners
  • Develop, implement and coordinate clinical education placements at the Vancouver Long Term sites for medical learners in collaboration with medical staff, site medical and operational leadership
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop, manage and evaluate clinical programming, ensuring consideration of client needs, service delivery and team relationships within a fairly new and growing clinical service delivery environment
  • Represent VCH and the Long Term Care team as a medical leader in both internal and external settings, leading with VCH shared values and underpinnings of VCH pillars
  • In delivering the services, the successful candidate will:
    • be licensed with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia supplemented by medical leadership experience and a proven track-record in clinical practice.
    • Demonstrated commitment to on-going learning and professional development.

Qualifications

Education, Licensing, & Experience:

  • Current College of Physicians of BC (CPSBC) - Full

Knowledge & Abilities:

  • Use sound business acumen to develop and foster collaboration and effective working relationships with stakeholders that promote cooperative goals and contribute to an atmosphere of trust and mutual respect.
  • Apply conflict management skills and expertise to persuade and negotiate effective resolution of issues / disputes.
  • Inspire a shared vision and align performance goals and objectives for medical staff to ensure a match with service delivery strategy, while maintaining group cohesiveness, motivation, commitment and effectiveness.
  • Provide timely and appropriate advice and consultation utilizing effective targeted communication strategies to gain acceptance of recommendations and to facilitate effective decision-making and operations within the context of the medical staff by-laws.
  • Build credibility, understanding and trust in the external community to assist the Communities of Care and VCH to meet its strategic priorities.
