Vancouver Coastal Health is looking for a Patient Experience Leader to join the Experience in Care Team. We are looking for people with clinical experience and understanding, who also have experience in patient feedback for the purpose of evaluation and quality improvement. As a Patient Experience Leader with Vancouver Coastal Health you will:

  • Improve patient experience as a priority and responsibility shared by everyone at VCH. As such, the requirement to continuously partner with patients and their supporters, providers and staff on quality and safety and improvements, is inherent to all aspects of this position.
  • Be responsible for developing, co-designing and evaluating partnership opportunities between patients/families and providers and staff (stakeholders) across the organization.
  • Work autonomously, independently and with stakeholders to plan and implement regional strategies to ensure active patient and family participation in feedback, patient and family centred care initiatives, service planning, delivery and evaluation.
  • Have opportunity for innovation, collaborate with stakeholders, build capacity around partnerships and coordinate existing and new patient and family feedback systems on services, supports and other planning activities.
  • Support healthcare professionals in practicing appropriate and effective engagement with patients and family as partners.
  • Collaborate on special initiatives, projects and events involving patient and family engagement.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) or in a field related to health, business or other relevant discipline.
  • A minimum of three (3) years’ recent, related experience within a clinical, patient safety, or quality improvement context involving engaging patients and families or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Knowledge & Abilities

  • Demonstrated ability to build cooperative and consultative partnerships with patients, families and partners.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, as well as excellent facilitation skills to work effectively in a team setting and with a variety of patients, families, healthcare providers and other stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to arrange and coordinate surveys, meetings, focus groups etc. to collect quantitative and qualitative data related to patient experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of current advanced word processing, graphics presentation, and spreadsheet computer applications to prepare reports and presentations.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.

As per Ministry of Health policy, all health care workers working in publicly-funded health care facilities are required to report their past receipt of certain vaccines or history of certain infections. Collecting these records will allow for offering of any missing vaccines, and for appropriate actions to be taken in the event of any future exposure to a communicable disease or during outbreaks. For all new hires and appointments to Vancouver Coastal Health, you will be asked to provide this information as part of the onboarding process.
