Vancouver Coastal Health is looking for a Physiotherapist to join the Long Term Care team at the Adanac Park Lodge in Vancouver, BC. Apply today to join our team!

 

As a Physiotherapist with VCH you will:

  • Provide physical therapy assessments and treatment using current theory and evidence based practice.
  • Support the interdisciplinary program/team in achieving program and resident/client goals.
  • Consult, confer, and collaborate with Program Manager and team members as well as Practice Coordinators and the Practice Leader in the promotion of continuous quality improvement, implementation of interdisciplinary research and in coordinating activities required for progressive educational and clinical practice programs.
  • Supervise up to and including four designated non-health science professional (HSP) FTE, schedule and coordinate work assignments, establish priorities and problem solve.
  • Be responsible for all clinical aspects of the assigned caseload as they relate to physical therapy practice, utilizing recognized physiotherapy assessment and intervention approaches.
  • Work collaboratively with members of the health care team, including residents and families, to set physical performance and capacity goals, evaluate response to treatment and develop long term care plans.

 

ABOUT ADANAC PARK LODGE

 

Adanac Park Lodge (APL) is a regional Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) Long Term Care (LTC) program specializing in providing care to younger adults (19-65 years) with complex health and behavioral needs.  APL’s unique population of focus is younger adults who have concurrent Mental Health, Substance Use and/or Acquired Brain Injury; and who often have co-existing physical, developmental and/or chronic health conditions.  Clients who may be considered for admission are between19 and 65 year of age.  Residents may reside at APL for as long as they require the specialized services / environment to meet their care needs, up to an including end of life care.  APL has a diverse inter-disciplinary team who collaborate with residents and families in their care and on meaningful goals and engagement.  In accordance with the vision and values of the organization, APL’s approaches & principles include; Person Centered Care; Trauma Informed Care; Recovery in MH; and Community Engagement.

 

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Degree in Physical Therapy from a recognized program.
  • Current full registration with the College of Physiotherapists of BC (CPTBC).
  • Two (2) years’ recent, related experience in the designated service area, including one (1) year's related mentoring, preceptoring, coaching and/or group facilitation experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Eligible for membership in the Canadian Physiotherapy Association (CPA).

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge of Physical Therapy theory and practice within a resident/patient and family centred model of care.
  • Knowledge of the College of Physiotherapists of British Columbia standards of practice and guidelines for clinical practitioners.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of clinical practice related to treatment and care of the designated patient population.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of adult education principles, methods and tools.
  • Knowledge of hospital policies, procedures, and standards of care.
  • Knowledge of other health care disciplines and their role in the designated patient population.
  • Knowledge of research methodology and processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to promote Indigenous Cultural Safety.
  • Demonstrated ability to function as a team member, resource, motivator and facilitator.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach and mentor staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach, demonstrate techniques and facilitate learning.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach and empower residents/patients to assume control over their health.
  • Demonstrated ability to use critical thinking in approach to teaching.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop educational programs and material.
  • Demonstrated ability to promote a creative learning environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, physicians, other health care staff and patients and their families, either one-on-one and in-groups.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish workload priorities in collaboration with others.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide effective consultation.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in collaboration with others.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position.
  • Skill in the use of equipment and in techniques appropriate to designated clinical area.
  • Demonstrated ability to deal with and/or guide others in resolution of conflict issues.
  • Computer literacy with word processing, spreadsheet and database skills.

The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes.

As per Ministry of Health policy, all health care workers working in publicly-funded health care facilities are required to report their past receipt of certain vaccines or history of certain infections. Collecting these records will allow for offering of any missing vaccines, and for appropriate actions to be taken in the event of any future exposure to a communicable disease or during outbreaks.
